Brian Payton has written for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and The Walrus. He is the author the novel Hail Mary Corner, a debut the Globe & Mail declared “packs a cathartic wallop.” His second book, Shadow of the Bear, a work of narrative nonfiction, was chosen as a Barnes and Noble Book Club Pick, an NPR Pearl’s Pick, and a 2006 U.S. Outdoor Book of the Year. His latest book, The Ice Passage, was a finalist for the Hubert Evans Nonfiction Prize.
