
Janet Joy loves to share great books!
In 2015 she became the resident Book Lover on the Global TV The Morning Show which came about because of her love of bicycles! Her passion for books and bicycles were realized in October 2014 with the inaugural The Reading Line Book Ride along The Green Line in Toronto. As Co-Founder of The Reading Line, their goal is to make the city better .. one street and one book at a time.
Janet Joy volunteers for Cycle Toronto and is the Co-Captain of the Ward 13 advocacy group where she is working to move forward initiatives to provide a connected cycling infrastructure not only in her community but city wide. She was awarded last year The Ward Advocacy Volunteer of the Year 2014 after only 9 months of being in the position.
As Senior Executive Sales Director at Penguin Random House Canada, her responsibilities include managing all third party publishing services for PRHC. This includes working with an impressive list of client publishers including DC Comics, Rizzoli, Quirk Books, National Geographic, Shambhala, Melville House, Soho Press, New York Review Books, Bloomsbury, Faber and many many more fabulous publishers. Almost 25 years ago she began her publishing career as a “Temp” Receptionist for Madison Press Books while she was still pursuing a career as a professional actor and dancer.
Highlights of her performance career includes the role of a RCMP officer in the feature film MASALA, appearances on television series and commercials along with script development with new playwrights. Memories of working with the National Tap Dance Company and playing Velma in West Side Story at Garden City Productions in St. Catharines remain near to her heart.
