Women-Only Beach, Porto Marina, Egypt

Katherine Leyton's poetry and non-fiction have appeared in The Malahat Review, The Edinburgh Review and The Globe and Mail, among others. She is also...

Folds and folds of black cloth drop
and suddenly, a woman.

I watch from
my rented chaise lounge
as she runs to the sea

In the water she opens and closes her legs
to let the flow in and out and back to the cargo ships
with their working men and unopened boxes.
