Talya Rubin

Talya Rubin is a poet and theatre creator/performer based in Montreal. Her poetry won the Bronwen Wallace Award and has been short-listed for the Winston Collins/Descant prize for Best Canadian poem and was a finalist for the Montreal International Poetry Prize. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC. Talya's fiction, poetry and non-fiction have appeared in Matrix, Grain, ascent, and Maclean's Online. Her first collection of poetry, Leaving The Island, is forthcoming from Vehicule Press in the spring of 2015.

To think you slender necked majestic birds, mythical white,
were worn as shoes. Split open at the seam and tender female feet
